San’a(ANN)- Yemen’s army and fighters of the popular committees have carried out retaliatory attacks against military positions on the Saudi territory amid the kingdom’s ongoing airstrikes.

According to Yemen’s al-Masirah news website, the Yemeni forces fired artillery shells at a Saudi army base in the southwestern region of Asir on Sunday.

The Yemeni forces also launched mortar attacks against Saudi military positions in the southwestern province of Najran.

On Saturday, Yemeni snipers killed seven Saudi soldiers in Asir and the province of Jizan.

The regime in Riyadh continues its deadly campaign against Yemen.

On Sunday, a woman succumbed to injuries suffered in a Saudi airstrike on a residential area in Sahar district in the province of Sa’ada. A girl was also wounded in a Saudi rocket attack on Haydan district.

Saudi jets also bombarded the provinces of Ta’izz, Hudaydah, Sana’a, Hajjah and Ma’rib. There were no immediate reports of possible casualties.

The Saudi campaign began in March 2015 in a bid to crush the Houthi Ansarullah movement and reinstate the former Yemeni administration. The war has left at least 11,400 civilians dead, according to a latest tally by a Yemeni monitoring group.
