What came out of Somaliland and Kenya Presidents hold closed-door meeting

The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, met with Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta at the Presidential Palace in Nairobi 14 Desember 2020, Araweelo News Network.

“The two presidents held a closed-door meeting for an hour and a half without anyone being present,” said the #Somaliland@foreign minister.

Nairobi(ANN)-The President of the Republic of #Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, today met with Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta in a closed-door meeting that lasted for an hour and a half.

This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Somaliland Yasin Mohamud Hiir “Fartoon” during a meeting between the two Presidents at the Presidential Palace in Nairobi.

“At 9am to 3pm East African time, there were various meetings and discussions between Somaliland President Muse Bihi and his delegation with Kenyan officials who are still in Kenya.” He said Somaliland Foreign Minister Yassin Mohamud Hiir “Faratoon”.

He said that in addition to the private meeting between Somaliland President Muse Bihi and Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, there were other meetings between the two sides, although he did not say what was discussed.

Minister Faratoon said that afternoon to continue meetings and some ministers on both sides, which is part of becoming  Somaliland experts has to stay there, and he noted that the review committees will do what the President discussed meeting and issues discussed at other that meetings.

He also said that the two presidents will have another meeting tomorrow without mentioning the outcome of the meeting which lasted for almost two hours and what will be discussed in the meeting scheduled for tomorrow. Tuesday 15 December 2020.

Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi and his delegation arrived in Nairobi yesterday at the official invitation of his Kenyan counterpart Uhuru Kenyatta. President’s visit comes at a time of heightened tensions between Kenya and Somalia, which have severed diplomatic ties in recent days.

The Kenyan government is one of the few countries troops in Somalia, with a dispute that lasted for years and the sea border, which is over an international court.

The current visit of Somaliland President Muse Bihi to Kenya has angered the Federal Government of Somalia in a diplomatic response and in a letter to the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), of which Sudan is currently chairing, according to the ministry’s Twitter account. Foreign Affairs of Somalia, although the content of the letter was not disclosed, it was interpreted as a matter for the Somali government to sue the Kenyan government.
