Voting in Somaliland Elections Begins and President Bihi Speaks to the Media

#Hargeisa(ANN)-#Somaliland, local council and parliamentary #elections officially began across the country this morning, with thousands of people in the early hours of the morning in most areas, particularly in the capital Hargeisa and other cities.

Voters lined up at polling stations early in the morning to cast their ballots, and it was felt that the public was interested in the long-delayed local council and parliamentary elections.

The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, who cast his ballot at the Hargeisa Public Service Commission, spoke about the elections that began this morning in Somaliland.

The president said the election started peacefully across the country and wished the people success and a peaceful end to the election.

The chairman of the National Electoral Commission, Abdirashid Riyaraac, also spoke to the media, saying that the elections started peacefully throughout Somaliland and that people had arrived early to places to cast their ballots.

The election, while are running for candidates Somaliland representatives 246,  to elect 82 members.On Monday 31 May 2021, the day of the Somaliland elections, 798 candidates from the three parties are running for local councils and the House of Representatives.

Elections are scheduled to take place in 2,709 polling stations across the country, with elections taking place in 23 constituencies, with 30,000 polling staff working on election day.according to the official records of the Electoral Commission finally announced, 1, 065, 847 voters. according to official records released by the Electoral Commission Somalialnd,(NEC),
