Hargeisa (ANN)– The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, today held a meeting at the Presidential Palace with a delegation led by the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General for Somalia, Ambassador James Swan. What did they discuss?
According to the presidential palace, the meeting discussed the situation in the Horn of Africa region, preparations for the upcoming Elections in Somaliland, and cooperation between Somaliland and the United Nations.
There are no more details about the meeting, but the presidency of Somaliland say the President was joined in the meeting by the Minister of Interior, Mohamed Kahin Ahmed, the Minister of National Planning and Development, Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Diriye (Toorno), and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Rooda Jama Elmi.
The visit of the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Somalia and the meeting of the President of Somaliland coincided with Somaliland’s preparations for the elections scheduled for 13 November, with the excitement of the elections being felt in the political arena.
It is also worth noting that the meeting between the President of Somaliland and Ambassador Swan came at a time when Somaliland is dealing with political wars that attack its independence.
