Twin explosions attacked the headquarters of the Somali Ministry of Education in Mogadishu, where there were many people. The dead and injured were government officials, journalists, businessmen, and other people.
“Our massacred people included mothers holding their children in their arms, fathers in a healthy condition, students sent to study, businessmen who were struggling for the lives of their families,” said the President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, after visiting the site today Where the attack took place.
Al Shabab said of the explosions, while the leader of Somalia blamed the militant group Al-Shabab, which in recent times has been removed from areas under their control, and senior leaders have been killed, according to the Federal Government, which has cooperated with its friends in the war against the Al Shabab group.
The Al Shabab group has released a statement from the movement and published it on the website of Al Shabab news. They clearly said that the target was the building of the Ministry of Education, which they described as the place where the youth are organized and, prevent the war they have explained by jihad against the federal government and foreign forces fighting against them.
Among the people who were killed were the Commander of the Hodan District Police Station Hussein Ad’eed Osman and journalist Mohamed Isse Koona who was one of the journalists working in Mogadishu, as well as at least a hundred other people.
On the other hand, the Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hamse Abdi Barre, has appointed a committee to investigate the damage caused by the explosions that occurred yesterday in Mogadishu, which caused death and injuries.
These explosions were the most destructive in recent times, as five years ago there was an explosion at the Soobe intersection that killed thousands of people and injured several hundred people.
The most destructive explosion that occurred at the Sobe intersection five years ago on October 14, 2017 caused the death of at least 358 people and 228 others. At that time, more than fifty people who were injured were taken to Turkey and elsewhere.
