Ankara(ANN)-Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Sunday that Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir was dismissed from his post over the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

In an interview with TRT Arabi, Erdogan said Al-Jubeir lied about Khashoggi’s case and then was dismissed by King Salman Bin Abdulaziz.

He added that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman lied about the case, stressing that “the perpetrators of the crime may have gotten rid of some of those involved in the crime through traffic accidents”.

According to Erdogan, Khashoggi was murdered “by a team of 22 people, including the 15 persons who entered Turkey to execute the crime”, adding explaining that Turkey has a recorded tape of the crime.

He called on the authorities in Saudi Arabia to fully disclose the details of the crime.

Earlier on Sunday, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu accused Western countries of covering up for the killers of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in return for arms deals with Saudi Arabia.

Khashoggi was last seen entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey, on 2 October. Turkey says a hit squad of 15 people came from the kingdom to assassinate him. Though Saudi denies the accusations that state forces took part in the murder, it has admitted that the journalist was killed on the premises.
