Ankara(ANN)-Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said yesterday that comments made by the Saudi Public Prosecutor regarding the death of Saudi oppositionist and journalist Jamal Khashoggi on 2 October were unsatisfactory.

In a statement to TRT Cavusoglu commented on the claim that former Deputy Intelligence Chief Ahmed Al-Asiri ordered Khashoggi’s deportation to Riyadh, and that the commander of the mission is the one who ordered the murder.

Cavusoglu rejected the Saudi prosecutor’s statement that the commander of the mission – whose name was kept confidential but reports indicated that he was Maher Al-Mutrib – formed a team of 15 to deal with Khashoggi and decided that Khashoggi should be assassinated in case his team failed to convince him to return.

The Turkish Foreign Minister confirmed that “Khashoggi’s murder and dismemberment was planned in advance by Saudi authorities,” adding that his country would cooperate with the international community to uncover what happened.

Cavusoglu noted that “equipment and personnel were brought to Turkey in order to dismember Khashoggi”
