Washington(ANN)-Somaliland President Muse Bihi Holds Important Meetings With Joe Biden Government Officials.

The President’s delegation met with the State Department, the US Africa Command and USAID, 15 March 2022, Washington.

Important issues were discussed at the meetings, with Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi and his delegation in Washington continuing to hold separate meetings with US officials.

Before meeting with US officials, President Bihi addressed the Heritage Foundation. He highlighted in his speech the aspirations of Somaliland and the importance of regional security and democracy that makes Somaliland different from many other countries in the region and the rest of the world.

Officials in President Biden’s government who had private meetings with President Bihi’s delegation included Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Mary Catherine Phee, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Administration, USAID’s Food Stability & Food Maura Barry Boyle, Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs Ilan Goldenberg, and US Ambassador to Africa Andrew Yound.

The talks between the two sides were held behind closed doors, but reports say the two sides discussed economic, security and development issues in the interest of the Republic of Somaliland and the United States to work together to strengthen bilateral ties, according to a statement from the US State Department.
