Hargeisa(ANN)-“The government is just wasting time and arguing over the timing of the November, 13, 2022 presidential election, so we are not ready and will not sit in front of the government.” says the statement of the Somaliland opposition.

Mohamud Jama Galaal, a spokesman for the opposition parties WADDANI and UCID, said on Monday that they would not hold talks with the Somaliland government led by President Bihi, citing a lack of results. Recent talks between the opposition and the President have failed.

Galaal, a senior member of the opposition WADDANI party, said he spoke on behalf of both WADDANI and UCID. He denied that any talks had taken place between the government and the opposition parties, responding to a statement from the Somaliland Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but denied that there were any talks between the government and the opposition parties, saying it was a shame for the ministry  Intervening in the political conflict between the parties and the government, “and that is not true.” he said.

On the other hand, he said Mr. Galaal, the mediation commission had not fulfilled its promise to release those detained during the protests on June 9, 2022, so if the arrested opposition party officials were not released, they would stage protests in all regions of the country in the coming days.
