Somaliland: Immigration officers seize a group of Nigerian forgeries and their equipment’s

Hargeisa(ANN)-Somaliland’s immigration chief, Brigadier General Mohamed Osman Alin (Dayib), spoke about six foreigners who entered the country to make fake money and documents.

The foreign group, which was presented to local media today at the Somaliland Immigration Command headquarters in Hargeisa, was addressed by Commander Mohamed Osman Alin (Dayib) along with recently fired Central Bank Governor Ali Baghdadi and other officials.

The commander said that according to the six men, five of them Nigerians, while the sixth man said that they did not recognize him yet, but that he spoke in Somali, noting that the group had entered the country from Hargeisa and Wajale airports.

However, Commander Dayib said that the group, which he was aware of, was captured when they entered the country, and showed the media the six men and their belongings, including their documents, the Somaliland Shilling note, the US dollar and other currency. They wanted to do it in a fake format.

Also, the Commander of the Somaliland Immigration, Brigadier General Mohamed Osman Alin (Dayib), presented the various equipment seized by the group for the forgery they intend to make.

“They obtained visas from foreign embassies, and we monitored their entry, their coming in from Hargeisa Airport and the Wajale border, and we were assisted by Somaliland police to arrest them.” He said.

Central Bank of Somaliland Governor Ali Ibrahim Baghdadi, for his part, said the group had not yet made any money, and praised the Immigration Commander for capturing the fake group, the six men and their equipment will be taken to court, officials said, and further investigations are under way.
