Hargeisa (ANN)- The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Cirro), spoke about his government’s position and relations with the countries neighboring the Republic of Somaliland.

“The Government of the Republic of Somaliland is further strengthening the historical relations based on good neighborliness, brotherhood and cooperation that we have with the countries of Ethiopia and Djibouti, and is planning trips to those countries,” said President Abdirahman Ciro, who delivered his annual address to both houses of the Somaliland Parliament on Sunday.

The President of Somaliland also stated that the Somaliland Government’s position on the arrival of Somalia’s First Minister Hamze Abdi Bare in the eastern Sool region of Somaliland, noting that his government confirmed the statement we issued at the 16th meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Somaliland held at the Presidential Palace on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, which resulted in the decision that the Republic of Somaliland has suspended the dialogue with Somalia.

My government has informed the international community that the arrival of the Prime Minister of Somalia Hamze Bare, is a violation of Somaliland’s sovereignty and an open war that Somalia has waged against the Republic of Somaliland to disrupt and undermine the peace and brotherhood efforts that the Republic of Somaliland is carrying out in the region, which have been achieved through great effort and hard struggle. “Once again, we warn that this violation could lead to an escalation of civil strife,” he said.
