Somaliland government suspends Chinese company for planting Castor tree

Hargeisa (ANN) -The government of Somaliland has rescinded an agreement with a Chinese company to plant a dangerous castor tree in Wajale.

 

Ahmed Mumin Seed, Somaliland’s Minister of Agriculture, said in a statement that his ministry’s agreement with a Chinese company to plant Castor trees in Wajale had been terminated.

The Araweelo News Network, which has conducted research on the dangers of the tree, has published reports that have been widely shared by the community last week.
