Said Jama Hussein is a Somali academic who is dedicated to the advancement of the Somali language and linguistics.

Shufbeel, a book of short stories published in 2010, was his first book.

He co-translated Asha Lul Mohamud Yusuf’s The Sea Migrations, Somali titled Tahriib with Clare Pollard and Maxamed Xasan ‘Alto’ for Bloodaxe Books and The Poetic Interpretation Institute in 2017.

His most recent book, Ma Innaguun Baa!, is a collection of short stories and personal memoirs accepted for publication by Ponte Invisibile. Shufbeeland and Safar Aan Jaho Lahayn are two of his other works.

Said Jama Hussein was a literary titan and one of the best writers of our time.

Said was a philosopher, scholar, and teacher who had a significant impact on this generation and will be remembered for his good works for the rest of his life. He died on June 9, 2022.
