Doha(ANN)-Qatar’s Endowment Ministry has called on Saudi Arabia to remove all obstacles placed on Qatari citizens who want to perform Umrah (pilgrimage) during the holy month of Ramadan.

In a statement, the ministry said that it wants the obstacles to be removed like all other Gulf, Arab and Islamic countries, Russia Today reported yesterday. The ministry added that direct flights from Qatar to Saudi Arabia are still banned and the only seaport between the two countries is also closed.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia does not allow the organisers of Umrah journeys to enter the Kingdom to make arrangements for their clients, as organisers from other countries are allowed to do.

In the statement, the ministry pointed to Saudi media’s incitement against Qatar and its citizens, noting this is a continuation of the provocative discourse against the country. The Qatari ministry reiterated that the Saudis should review these measures and avoid politicising such religious rituals., said the statement.
