Hargeysa (ANN)- Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi welcomed the provisional results of the successful election on November 13 2024, and the provisional results announced by the National Electrol Commiion on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. As announced in a press conference conducted by the National Electoral Commission (NEC).

President Bihi said this in a press release issued on Wednesday, during a meeting with the officials of his government, and he made it clear he welcomed the provisional results of the November 13 election, congratulating the winner of the presidential election, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi ‘Cirro’ from the opposition political Party Wadani.The candidate of the National opposition party, got 407908. corresponding to 63.92% of the total number of votes, KULMIYE Party, 225519, corresponding to 34.81% vote.

President ran for the presidency against Abdirahman Cirro in a no-holds-barred contest that saw tens of thousands of supporters rallying in support behind their preferred candidates in color, pre-election rallies across the nation.

“It is neither of us who has won in this tight race, but the Republic of Somaliland and its people who have shown a maturity that is very rare to see in most elections at this level,” the outgoing President, who ran as the Kulmiye (ruling party) candidate, said.

The two contestants ran against each other in 2017 when President Bihi defeated his opponent by a little over 80,000 votes. But, Abdirahman has returned this time. one who won by a margin that doubled the difference in 2017 election, with the support of the President of the KAAH Political Association led by the politician Mohamud Hashi Abdi, whose organization entered the race to become the National Party, which made the WADANI candidate get two-thirds of the votes (2/3). The President pledged unreserved support stating that he would see to it that the incoming president’s transition to the presidency ran smoothly and without undue interference.

The outgoing president told his supporters in KULMIYE that the victory belongs to the nation of Somaliland, calling for the nation to continue to work with the successful president who was elected by the people of Somaliland, and he described the election as a shock to the enemies of Somaliland. which showed the maturity of Somaliland’s democratic elections and that it is a witness to the transfer of power in a peaceful manner and working together for nationalism and the building of the country.
