Lahore, (ANN)-Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan has been diagnosed with coronavirus just two days after receiving the Covid-19 vaccine, Pakistan’s health minister has said.

Imran Khan is “self-isolating at home,” the country’s health minister, Faisal Sultan, said on Saturday.

The 68-year-old former international cricketer received his first dose of China’s Sinopharm coronavirus vaccine on Thursday.

The Sinopharm shot is the only Covid-19 vaccine available in Pakistan.

The issue came as a surprise, but Pakistan’s health ministry said it could take several weeks to develop immunity to the virus after vaccination, and urged the public not to give up a vaccine based on Khan’s diagnosis.

Officials say Prime Minister Imran Khan was not fully vaccinated when he contracted the virus. He only got the 1st dose and only 2 days ago which is so fast that EVERY vaccine should be effective. – Get the COVID vaccine.

South Asia, with a population of 220 million, recorded 13,799 deaths and 623,135 cases during the disaster, according to Johns Hopkins University in the United States.

Meanwhile, cases have increased in Pakistan in recent weeks, although the tragedy is still largely under control. Closing restrictions have been tightened in parts of the country in response to growing infections.

The production of the vaccine in Pakistan, which started on March 10 with the elderly, has met with a lot of fear from some in the public and Khan’s appearance of getting the vaccine has been broadcast in an attempt to alleviate people’s concerns about the vaccine, but that has not yet eliminated fears about the vaccine.
