Riyadh(ANN)-Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL), Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa said there is no deal between Saudi Arabia and the Vatican on building churches in Saudi Arabia.

Al-Issa said during an interview with Russia Today TV channel on Friday that reports of such a deal are “unfounded”, however, he explained that the League had signed a memorandum of understanding with the Vatican.

Al-Issa visited the Pope in the Vatican two years ago.

They discussed cooperation between the Vatican and the Islamic world on issues of peace and coexistence.

Al-Issa expressed the Islamic world’s appreciation of the Pope’s position in which he rejected linking extremism and violence to Islam.
