Las Anod(ANN)-The government of the Republic of Somaliland has spoken about an attack, as it said on Sunday morning, on the siege of the Somaliland National Army base on the outskirts of the town of Las Anod.
A press release issued by the Ministry of Defense of Somaliland, a copy of which reached the Araweelo News Network, discussed the attack and how the war took place.
“This Sunday morning, groups of the Somaliland Regional Government Alliance of Puntland, which supports the terrorist groups and the Las Anod militias, attacked the National Army of the Republic of Somaliland,” said the press release.
The attack took place on the fourth day of the holy month of Ramadan. while the Somaliland national army is still on the defensive, respecting the cease-fire that the government of Somaliland has called for many times and the sanctity of the holy month of Ramadan, as mentioned in the press release of the Ministry of Defense of Somaliland.
The press release did not mention any casualties as a result of the attack by the Puntland and allies in Las Anod.
There has been no news yet from the Garowe administration and the militias.
In recent weeks, there have been sporadic battles in the city of Las Anod, which have caused casualties and injuries as the people fled to other areas.
Attempts to quell the conflict have been completely ineffective, and nothing has been possible. At this time, during the holy month of Ramadan, militias from the Somali regional authorities, such as Puntland and the Middle Juba of Kismayo, are pouring into the city of Las Anod.
Also, militia from the central regions of Somalia, some of whom in the last two nights have arrived in Las Anod, have arrived, wanting to be part of the war against the Somaliland National Army.
The militia is all of them and wants to take part in the war as a tribe and administration.
However, the conflict in Las Anod seems to want to spread to the entire region, and with the tribal structure that has been used as fuel, it could easily destroy the stability of the Horn and East African regions.
