Nairobi(ANN)-Kenya, which recently won a non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council, has launched a plan to bring Somaliland’s independence issue to the United Nations.
Former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga, currently the AU Commissioner for Development and Infrastructure, and appointed Chairperson of the AU Commission, after his appointment in October 2018, is planning a motion on Somaliland’s case to the Security Council.United Nations. On the other hand, Garowe Online, who wrote about this, and discussed in lengthy plans for Kenya, used the headline “Kenya is pushing for Somaliland to gain international recognition.”
Kenya has recently succeeded to become non-permanent members of the Security Council, after competing with Djibouti in a landslide victory, and will begin its mandate by January 2021.
The Country is not the first time joins the non-permanent members of the Security Council, between 1997-1998, but Kenya, the returning in after 23 years was a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.
