#Kenya Reaffirms Position on #Somaliland @Recognition

#Nairobi (ANN) -The Kenyan government has stated its position on the issue of recognition of the Republic of #Somaliland and the relationship between the two countries.

“Kenya’s position on the Republic of Somaliland is similar to that of the African Union, and we recognize the borders of Africa, in accordance with the 1964 AU resolution,” she said, Dr. Monica Juma is the Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kenya.

“We have offices in South Sudan before were recognized, so we have representatives in many countries and we are dealing with other countries,” she said. Monica defends relations between Somaliland and Kenya

On the other hand, she spoke about the maritime dispute between Somalia and Kenya, and argued that there was no need for Somalia to go to the International Court of Justice at this time, saying that this was the last time, but now it was necessary for both sides to discuss the dispute.

Kenyan, Somaliland presidents issue joint Statement

Relations between Somaliland and Kenya have improved in recent years, with the President of the Republic of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi and a delegation led by him on an official visit to Kenya in December 2020, following an official invitation from Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta.
