#Djibouti(ANN)-Djibouti takes any threat directed against its soil very seriously and is ready to face them ”say the  Djibouti government responds to Al Shabaab threat in Somalia.

The Djibouti, In a statement released yesterday, Wednesday, by the presidency, the Republic of Djibouti denounced the threats made against it two days ago by a member of the terrorist group Al Shabab.

“We are therefore hardly surprised to hear these vitriolic attacks, false accusations and threats made against our country from an organization which represents the most immediate threat to security and the stability of the Somali state and people”, we can read in this document, said the statement.

 

 

 

“Djibouti has seen the video released two days ago by an al-Shabab member. We are therefore hardly surprised to hear these vitriolic attacks, false accusations and threats made against our country from an organization which poses the most immediate threat to security and stability of the Somali state and people.” adds the statement.

 

The statement added Al Shabab has regularly demonized and made direct threats against countries in the region that provide support to Somalia until the country is able to take full responsibility for its security.

But according to the statement Djibouti is and will remain a reliable, united and committed partner of Somalia and international actors in their efforts to help stabilize this country.

Also, it said in the statement, “As the world strives to recover from the devastating consequences of the Covid-19 epidemic which has disrupted the lives and livelihoods of millions of people, Djibouti will remain focused on building a strong economy, development of its infrastructure and investment in its human capital.”

The government of Djibouti said it is still under government control is proud that despite the global vaccine shortage, it has embarked on a very serious vaccination effort which will hopefully protect its population from the virus and counter its variants.

Meanwhile, Al Shabaab, which has carried out several attacks in the region, has threatened to the upcoming presidential election in Djibouti.

Djibouti, a small country warming up the strategic Bab Al-Mandab Strait in the Red Sea, the country has become a base for foreign powers, and the current threat from Al Shabaab to Djibouti is the first of its kind. Djibouti, despite the already threatened periodically Djibouti troops in Somalia withdraw, but the government refuses to listen to the group.
