London (ANN)-British authorities on Wednesday announced toughening immigration rules to make it almost impossible for undocumented migrants who arrive on small boats to later receive citizenship.
Accoding a statement released by the nation’s Home Office said the nation has new guidance that will “strengthen measures to make it clear that anyone who enters the UK illegally, including small boat arrivals, faces having a British citizenship application refused.”
The updated move to curb illegal migration came as Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s Labour government faces pressure after Nigel Farage’s anti-immigration Reform UK party won roughly four million votes during the previous election.
The change of rules has been criticized by some Labour Party members of parliament.
The announcement of Britain’s immigration law comes as the United States has expelled millions of immigrants. after the new administration of President Trump.
