HRW calls on Ethiopian government to release Tigrayan detainees in Addis Ababa jails

“Government must immediately stop racial abuse and discrimination against ethnic Tigrayan” HRW

 

Nairobi(ANN)-Human Rights Watch (HRW) has accused the Ethiopian government of discriminating against Tigrayans in the capital, Addis Ababa.

HRW, in a report published on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, highlights the abuses and arrests of ethnic Tigrayans, some of whom are businessmen. Human Rights Watch reports that since late June 2021, indiscriminately detained and missing more Tigrayans.

Human Rights Watch called on Ethiopian government officials to release them people incarcerated immediately, as there was no credible evidence that they had committed any crime.

Also, HRW called on the Abiy government to end all discrimination against ethnic Tigrayans.
