Dear Somaliland Politicians in Mogadishu,

It is imperative that we address a pressing issue that has the potential to significantly impact our collective future. Recently, members of the Mogadishu government have publicly called for the dismissal of all Somaliland-origin officials from the executive branch, the parliament, the upper house, and the judiciary. This is a clear message urging you to resign from your positions.

As the saying goes, “revenge is a dish best served cold.” Before you are forcibly removed from office by this struggling government, seize the opportunity to resign honorably and make a lasting impact. This action would not only be a testament to your dedication but also a significant step towards the recognition of Somaliland.

The quest for Somaliland’s recognition can be likened to completing a complex jigsaw puzzle. Each piece represents a step towards our ultimate goal. The current political climate presents us with an opportunity to place a critical piece in this puzzle by resigning from the Somali government. This bold move can bring the picture of an independent Somaliland into sharper focus.

Given that Somaliland operates outside the federal structure and legal framework governing its relationship with Somalia, the people of Somaliland are appealing to you. We urge all Somali government officials of Somaliland origin to resign from the current Somali government to accelerate the path to Somaliland’s recognition as an independent state.

A mass resignation would necessitate constitutional reform, particularly if key positions in the executive, legislative, and judicial branches are left vacant. The absence of political representation from Somaliland would challenge efforts to build a cohesive national identity, thereby increasing support for Somaliland’s independence among its citizens.

Public discussions overwhelmingly suggest that such a move would be a powerful symbolic act, reinforcing Somaliland’s quest for international recognition as an independent state. The international community is aware that Somalia lacks political representation in any region of Somaliland. The crucial question now is whether Somalilanders will have the courage to resign and support the noble cause of our long-awaited recognition.

This is a pivotal moment in our history. Your decision could pave the way for a future where Somaliland is recognized and respected as an independent nation on the global stage. Let us act decisively and honorably to place this crucial piece in the puzzle of our recognition.
