Washington(ANN)- US federal agents are investigating Elliott Broidy, a top fundraiser for the Republican party and President Donald Trump, over his relations to the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
Investigative journalism site ProPublica reported that federal agents raided Broidy’s office in Los Angeles last summer looking for evidence linking him to foreign officials close to Trump.
The search warrant obtained by the site revealed that Broidy has tried to benefit from his relationship with Trump in dealing with foreign officials including Saudi Arabia and China, by securing contracts for his private security company.
According to the site, the New York Times reported last year that “Broidy has worked with UAE adviser, George Nader, to steer the White House towards decisions benefiting the UAE and Saudi Arabia”.
According to the warrant, Broidy faces three possible charges including “conspiracy, money laundering and violations of the law barring covert lobbying on behalf of foreign officials”.
