Washington(ANN)-Track Palin, the oldest son of former US vice presidential candidate and former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, has been arrested on charges that he assaulted his father at their family home in Alaska, after Sarah Palin called the police.
Wasilla police were called to the Palin home Saturday night, after the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee told police that her son was “freaking out and was on some type of medication,” according to details of charging documents released on Monday.
Track came to the house to confront his father over a truck he wanted to pick up, according to the affidavit. Todd Palin told his son not to come because he had been drinking and taking pain medication.
“Track told him he was [going to] come anyway to beat his a**,” according to the affidavit filed by Wasilla police.
His father grabbed a pistol to “protect his family,” and the two got into a fight. Track broke a window and struck his father on the head.Todd, meanwhile, broke free but suffered injuries to his face and head.
History of violence
The now 28-year old Track was also arrested in January 2016 in Wasilla, on charges of assaulting and beating his girlfriend.
His girlfriend had told the responding officer at the scene that he “struck her on the left side of her head near her eye with a closed fist,” sending her to the ground. He then allegedly kicked her, threw her cell phone and threatened suicide with his AR-15 rifle, according to court documents.
He pleaded guilty to misconduct involving charge for possessing a weapon while intoxicated.
His girlfriend later filed for custody of their child and sought a protective order against him.
Sarah Palin claimed at the time that her son’s arrest stemmed from post-traumatic stress disorder caused due to military deployment in Iraq.
